Heartland Christian School Happenings

May 8, 2026
Elijah Gabel tied for a 10th place medal but lost a score card playoff, however he did card an eagle during the day.

Monday morning, Heartland Christian School hosted a pastor appreciation breakfast for our pastors and Chapel speakers. Levi Kersenbrock and Blaine Beckley visited with the attendees about what is happening and the growth that has taken place at HCS over the time they have attended here. Those who attended shared what was happening in their churches.

Also on Monday morning, our staff was pleasantly surprised by Sara Sloan providing a variety of scones from her business of “Heavenly” for Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you, Mrs. Sloan, for thinking of our staff!

Our HCS varsity golfers competed in the state golf tournament last Tuesday in Lawrence at the Eagle Bend golf course. The playing conditions were less than favorable with rain all morning. Nevertheless, all three golfers played respectfully well. Elijah Gabel tied for a 10th place medal but lost a score card playoff. Their last competition of the year was here in Colby, on Thursday. Elijah Gabel won the ninth place medal. Elijah also scored his first “eagle” on a par four hole. Congratulations.

The kindergarten class, under the direction of Mrs. Donley, organized and presented our Chapel on Wednesday. It is truly amazing how many Bible verses our students can memorize and recite! Pastor Greg Woolf was our guest speaker. He compared the relationship of a husband and wife to our relationship with Jesus Christ. The more we communicate by reading the Bible and praying, the more our relationship grows with Jesus. Thank you, Pastor Woolf, for sharing.

Graduation for our three seniors will be this Saturday at 2:00 pm in the HCS gym. Our three seniors are Blaine Beckley, Rianna Inman, and Levi Kersenbrock.

The gardening classes had great success with their plant sale this year. Thank you to all who supported and helped create success with your gardens this year! The students get to see God's creation through planting seeds, propagation, dividing perennials, and so much more in preparation for this annual sale.

Thursday evening, we got to celebrate our students’ achievements at our annual activities banquet. Thanks to all of our participants, coaches and parents for providing many opportunities for our students.
