Lady Bulldogs Improve in Dighton

The Golden Plains Lady Bulldogs scored 18 total points at the Dighton Invitational Track Meet on May 8. With 22 competitive teams, the also set PR’s in many of their events.

Sophomore Brenlynn Rath placed first in Triple Jump with a 37’ 0” jump. She set a career best jump and new school record in Long Jump of 17’ 7.25” to place second. She also set PR of 28’ 5” in Shot Put.

Katie Carter set a PR of 73’ 5” in Discus and Jade Dible set a PR of 76’ 0” in Javelin. Alicia Vargas set a PR in the 1600m of 7:09.02, in the 400m of 1:14.13, and in the 200m of 31.56. “I’ve been trying to work hard on my times in practice and it felt great to set the PR’s,” said Vargas. “ I hope to PR again at the league meet and continue to improve.”

Searee Bruggeman also set several PR’s in Dighton. She PR’d in the 1600m at 6:55.75 and in the 3200m with a 15:02.31 run. Ellie Romero also set a PR in the 3200m of 16:28.84 and in the 800m of 3:21.89. Adilyn Meier PR’d in both the 1600m (6:14.18) and the 800m (2:41.50). Lakin Wark also set PR in the 200m of 33.83. The 4 x 100m relay team of Carter, Molly Ritter, Meier, and Dible ran their best time of the season of 59.41.

Additional results include: High Jump-Dible 4’ 4”, Wark 4’ 4”, Ritter 4’ 4”, Discus-Addy Wessel 56’ 8”, Javelin-Carter 60’ 2”, Wessel 57’ 7”, Shot Put-Wessel 25’ 3”, Carter 23’ 11.5”. 100m-Ritter 15.15, Dible 15.67, 800m-Brielle Karnes 3:36.40, 200m-Ritter 31.60, Triple Jump-29’ 6.75”, Romero 27’ 2”, Long Jump-Bruggeman 12’ 11.25”. The girls will compete at the WKLL league meet in Oakley on May 14.
