The Colby Eagles continued their strong spring run over the past week, putting together a 3-1 stretch across two doubleheaders to move to 15-5 on the season. Behind explosive offense and consistent pitching, Colby swept Cimarron on the road before splitting a home series with a solid Holcomb squad.

Colby opened the stretch on April 28 in Cimarron with a pair of commanding wins, taking game one 11-0 and following it up with an 11-3 victory. The Eagles set the tone early in the opener, capitalizing on patience at the plate and timely hitting to build momentum before breaking the game open in the fifth inning.

A key highlight came from Reid Ryan, who launched a three-run home run as part of an eight-run outburst that put the game out of reach. Ryan finished with two hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Cobin Curry added three hits, while Braxton Withington delivered a complete performance both at the plate and on the mound. Withington collected two hits and three RBIs while tossing five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 11 in the shutout effort.

Game two saw the Eagles stay aggressive offensively, jumping ahead early behind a two-run homer from Conner Surmeier in the first inning. The power surge continued throughout the game, with Withington, Surmeier, Keegan Glassman, and Kasen Stramel all leaving the yard. Surmeier led the way with two home runs, three hits, and four RBIs, while Glassman added three hits, three runs, and three RBIs. Withington chipped in another strong showing with three hits, including a home run, as Colby rolled to the sweep.

Returning home on April 30, the Eagles faced a tougher test against Holcomb, splitting the doubleheader. In game one, Colby dropped a tight 3-1 contest despite a strong pitching performance from Surmeier, who struck out nine over 5.2 innings while allowing just three runs on three hits. Offensively, the Eagles managed limited production, with Dallas Kliensorge and Corbin Sherman each recording two hits, and Sherman helping produce Colby’s lone run.

Colby responded in emphatic fashion in game two, erupting for a 15-0 run-rule victory. The Eagles took advantage of early opportunities, scoring five runs in the first inning before adding eight more in a decisive second frame. Patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning created constant pressure, as Colby drew multiple walks and capitalized on defensive miscues.

Talon Wark led the offensive charge with two hits and three runs scored, while Cobin Curry and Corbin Sherman each drove in three runs. Curry also delivered on the mound, pitching three innings of one-hit baseball with four strikeouts to secure the shutout.

Keegan Glassman squares one up at the plate, turning in a consistent offensive performance with three hits, a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored during the Eagles’ recent stretch.

Across the four-game stretch, Colby showcased its depth with contributions throughout the lineup and strong outings from multiple pitchers. The Eagles’ ability to bounce back after a loss and respond with a dominant performance continues to be a defining trait as the team builds momentum late in the season.

Now sitting at 15-5, Colby remains in a strong position heading into the final stretch of the regular season, with a balanced combination of power hitting, disciplined at-bats, and reliable pitching giving the Eagles confidence moving forward.
