The Colby High School Lady Eagles put together a dominant showing on their home field April 24, sweeping Haskell County in a doubleheader at Young Memorial Park with convincing 16-1 and 14-3 victories.

Colby wasted little time establishing control in the opener, using a combination of disciplined at-bats and timely hitting to build an early lead. After a scoreless first inning from both sides, the Lady Eagles broke through in the bottom of the first as Sadie Cheney and Ryler Carter sparked a rally that was capped by Ellie McCarty’s two-run double to give Colby a 2-0 advantage.

The offensive pressure continued to mount in the second inning. Colby capitalized on walks and base hits from Emily Flanagin and Myka Nolan, stretching the lead to 6-0. From there, the Lady Eagles never looked back. Nolan delivered one of the biggest swings of the day in the fourth inning, launching a three-run home run as part of a six-run frame that pushed the game out of reach.

Nolan finished a standout performance in Game 1, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored, and six RBIs. McCarty added three hits and five RBIs, while Kenley Moss contributed two RBIs as part of Colby’s 16-run output.
