The Colby High School Eagles baseball kept their momentum rolling last Friday sweeping a doubleheader on the road against Lakin Broncs baseball to extend their winning streak to eight games and improve to 12-4 on the season.

Colby wasted no time asserting control in Game 1, delivering a dominant 16-0 shutout behind a combination of explosive offense and overpowering pitching. After a quiet first inning, the Eagles broke through in the second and never looked back, piling up runs in every inning that followed. A massive third inning created separation, with Colby capitalizing on timely hitting, walks, and Lakin miscues to build a commanding lead.

Offensively, the Eagles were led by Reid Ryan, who turned in a standout performance with three hits, five RBIs, and three runs scored. His ability to consistently deliver in key moments helped fuel multiple scoring rallies. Keegan Glassman added three RBIs of his own, while Kasen Stramel contributed with a hit and two RBIs as Colby’s lineup proved difficult to contain from top to bottom.

On the mound, Conner Surmeier set the tone early, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while limiting Lakin’s opportunities. The Eagles’ defense backed him up effectively, keeping the Broncs off the scoreboard and securing the run-rule victory.

Game 2 presented more resistance from Lakin, but Colby again found ways to control the game, earning a 9-3 win to complete the sweep. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, taking advantage of walks and defensive pressure before Reid Ryan delivered a two-run single to put Colby firmly in front.

Lakin responded midway through the game, trimming the deficit to 5-3, but Colby answered in the fifth inning with another key surge. Cobin Curry came through with a two-run single to extend the lead, and the Eagles added insurance runs late to put the game out of reach.

Curry played a pivotal role in Game 2, contributing two hits and three RBIs at the plate while also going the distance on the mound. He tossed all seven innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out six to secure the win. Ryan continued his strong day with two hits and two RBIs, while Braxton Withington added two runs and two RBIs to support the offensive effort.

Across both games, Colby showcased a balanced attack—combining disciplined at-bats, aggressive base running, and consistent pitching. The Eagles repeatedly pressured Lakin’s defense, turning walks and errors into scoring opportunities while delivering timely hits to capitalize.

With the sweep, Colby not only extended its winning streak to eight games but also reinforced its standing as one of the more dangerous teams in the region. As the season progresses, the Eagles’ combination of depth on the mound and production throughout the lineup continues to trend in the right direction.
